Newly added and promoted channels will appear in the Updates tab of the app, where the status and channels are already shown.

Promotional posts will appear between regular status updates with a clear label indicating they are an ad.

Users can easily skip these ads by swiping away, just like they do with regular status updates.

This feature is designed to help users discover new brands and organizations while browsing for updates.

Private chats will be safe

The company has clarified that ads will be limited to the Updates tab only.

Personal chats, calls and private status updates will be protected by end-to-end encryption.

This means that ads will not interfere in users’ private conversations.

Users will have control over advertisements

If users find certain ads repetitive or irrelevant, they can hide or block businesses that show them.

This ensures that users still have control over what content appears in their Updates feed.

The company is also considering an ad-free subscription option in certain regions, including some European countries.

This will remove ads from the subscription update tab, although pricing and availability may vary by region.

New feature for group chat

Along with ads, the platform is also introducing new features to improve group chats.

A new feature called Group Chat History lets new members quickly access past conversations after joining a group.

Group admins or members can now share 25 to 100 past messages in an organized manner.

Previously, new members could see sent messages only after joining the group.

When chat history is shared, all members are notified, and details like sender and time of the message are visible.
