A new feature rolled out in the messaging platform gives group admins and members the option to share old chats with newly added users. How does the new feature work?

When a new user is added to a group, the admin and group members will see an option to share recent messages. Through this option users will be able to share 25, 50, 75 and 100 messages. Recent messages can be shared with the user with the help of this feature. Note that group admin or group member cannot share full chat history with new users.

The company has designed these features to enhance clarity and transparency. Shared chats will appear in a separate section within the group. This will also include the date of the chats and the name of the sending user. All users will get notification of sharing chat messages. So that all users will be able to see the old shared chats.

Group admin will get special power

The option to send messages is not automatic. Whenever a new user is added to a group, other users will have to manually access this feature. Group admins have the right to disable this feature for all members. However, admins can use this feature anytime. WhatsApp says that the group message history feature is being released in phases.
