Reservation facility started from Monday

WhatsApp has officially announced that the process of reserving usernames has started from Monday. Although this feature will be fully activated in the app by the end of this year, but the company has given the opportunity to the users to reserve a unique username of their choice in advance. When this feature becomes available for your account, you’ll receive a notification within the app.

Privacy will get a new dimension

According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, this feature has been designed mainly keeping in mind the privacy of the users. The company says that phone number is a very personal information and many times people want to connect without giving it to others. The username will become a means by which you will be able to communicate with others while keeping your identity secret.

The important thing is that it will not be public like any social media handle i.e. there will be no ‘public directory’ or ‘Suggestion List’ Will not happen. The person must have your accurate and correct username in order to contact you.

WhatsApp is not limited to just username but is also offering the option of Username Key, adding an extra layer of security. If someone messages you using your username for the first time, they will have to use that special ‘key’ to reach you. May need it. Users can use this ‘key’ Can be changed anytime, so that spam messages and unwanted calls can be controlled.
