When case was registered against Sandeep Pathak, BJP said – Kejriwal is doing ‘politics of revenge’…

New Delhi. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reacting to the incident of Punjab Police registering an FIR against Rajya Sabha member Sandeep Pathak, on Saturday alleged that Aam Aadmi Party (BJP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is doing politics of revenge. Sandeep Pathak had recently left the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined the BJP along with six other fellow Rajya Sabha members.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala, in a post on social media platform ‘X’, claimed that Kejriwal is misusing the Punjab Police to settle political rivals, and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also become a partner in it. Poonawalla said, “Two FIRs have been lodged against Sandeep Pathak, who was till recently an AAP Rajya Sabha member and party general secretary (organisation). The surprising thing is that Arvind Kejriwal is shamelessly doing politics of revenge with the connivance of Bhagwant Mann.

“It is clear that this has been done as part of vendetta politics by Kejriwal, who is extremely vindictive and malicious,” he alleged. They misuse the Punjab Police for this kind of political vendetta.’ Poonawalla questioned the timing of filing the FIRs and said, ‘If these cases existed from the beginning, then why were the FIRs not filed earlier? If he was corrupt, why was he kept in the party for so long, especially when he was the general secretary (of the organisation)? Has any new information come to light in the last few days, or has the alleged corruption just happened?

He alleged that Kejriwal has an “old habit” of targeting political opponents and dissidents. Referring to the withdrawal of Rajya Sabha member Harbhajan Singh’s security, Poonawalla said, “We have seen how he has used the police against his rivals, including Congress leaders. This is their old habit.” The BJP spokesperson claimed that several leaders, including Yogendra Yadav, Mayank Gandhi, Ashish Khaitan, Ashutosh and Alka Lamba, left AAP over the years because they were ‘harassed’. He accused you of failing to introspect.

“From Anna to Lalu, from Lokpal to corruption, instead of introspecting on their changes, they are indulging in vendetta politics and targeting people on the strength of law,” Poonawalla said. This reflects the mentality like emergency and Hitler’s dictatorship.” According to sources, two FIRs have been registered against Sandeep Pathak under non-bailable sections.

However, detailed information about these FIRs has not been given yet. AAP suffered a major blow on April 24 when seven of its 10 Rajya Sabha members—Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, Sandeep Pathak, Harbhajan Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Vikramjit Sahni and Swati Maliwal—left the party and joined the BJP, accusing them of deviating from the party’s principles, values and core values. Of the seven MPs who left the party, six were elected from Punjab. Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan on Monday officially approved the merger of seven MPs with the BJP, reducing the number of AAP members in the Upper House to three.
