The deaths of actor-director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner have drawn widespread attention after prosecutors revealed new details about the alleged crime involving their son, Nick Reiner. Here a new updated timeline based strictly on information released by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
When Were Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner Killed?
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were allegedly killed in the early morning hours of December 14 at their home in the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue, Brentwood, Los Angeles.
District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman stated in an official press release issued on Tuesday, December 16that investigators believe the fatal stabbings occurred sometime early that morning. However, authorities have not yet confirmed an exact time of death.
Speaking at a press conference, Hochman said officials are awaiting further findings from the coroner to determine the precise time. He noted that, at this stage, investigators do not have the level of specificity required to confirm the exact hour the deaths occurred.
How Were the Bodies Discovered?
Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead later that day, on Sunday, December 14when authorities responded to a medical aid call around 3:30 p.m. Upon entering the Brentwood residence, officers discovered both victims deceased inside the home.
At the time their bodies were found, Nick Reiner was not present at the residenceaccording to law enforcement officials.
Arrest of Nick Reiner
Prosecutors allege that after the killings, Nick Reiner fled the scene. He was later located and arrested by police around 9:15 p.m. on December 14near Exposition Parkclose to the University of Southern California (USC) campus.
Nick Reiner, 32, has since been formally charged with two counts of murder. The charges include a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders and an additional allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, a knifeduring the attack.
