When is Ahsoka Season 2 coming to Disney+? Release date window, cast and everything we know so far
Season 2 of Ahsoka picks up after Season 1’s events. Ahsoka and Sabine are stranded in another galaxy (Peridea), while Thrawn advances the Imperial remnants’ plans against the New Republic. Ahsoka was added to the “Coming Soon in 2026” list on Disney+’s homepage the other day, confirming the 2026 release window following previously reported speculation on potential release delays until 2027.
Ahsoka Season 2: Release date window
Filming ended in October 2025 (after beginning in April 2025), which was done in the UK. A project of this size can expect approximately 9-12+ months of post-production (including a lot of VFX).
The last season of the show took until October 2022 to finish filming; it premiered in August 2023, so we can expect at least another summer or fall release of the first episode (late August to sometime in September or possibly late in 2026) at best to beginning in 2026, but there is a strong possibility that it’ll be late 2026 or early 2027.
Ahsoka Season 2: Cast
Returning main cast (core ensemble intact):
- Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano
- Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren
- Give it to Esfandi as Ezra Bridger
- Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla
- Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati
- Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn
- Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker (expected to appear, with a potentially significant role)
Recasts:
- Rory McCann (Game of Thrones’ The Hound) as Baylan Skoll, replacing the late Ray Stevenson. The character’s arc continues and remains important.
- Nightsister Klothow recast (Claudia Black declined to return due to pay/scheduling as a single mother; other Great Mothers like Aktropaw and Lakesis return).
Dave Filoni serves as showrunner and wrote all episodes (as he did for Season 1). He is expected to direct the premiere and finale; other directors include Bryce Dallas Howard, Jennifer Getzinger, and Anders Engstrom.
Ahsoka Season 2: Everything we know so far
Ahsoka and Sabine have something to do with the Mortis gods (we can probably expect to see some alternative representation of the Mortis gods, but it will be difficult to do in a live-action way. A confrontation between Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati (though we suspect there will be some sort of confrontation). Thrawn’s overall story arc (this will include a large space battle with the New Republic led by Admiral Ackbar).
The Ahsoka miniseries is also going to lead into the larger event movie Dave Filoni is planning for the Mandalorianverse. Even though they are using a lot of volume and stagecraft techniques during production, there is going to be much more location-based shooting (on location) than they have in the past.
No trailers have been released, so updates will probably start ramping up as the premiere approaches. The last update we have is from April of 2026, when Lucasfilm typically releases more information (trailers/key art/decisive dates) leading up to their releasing new content at major events such as Star Wars Celebration. Be sure to stay tuned to official Star Wars channels for any announcements!
