How fast do cancer cells grow?
The speed with which cancer cells grow depends on the cancer grade. In high-grade aggressive cancers the cells spread rapidly, while in low-grade cancers it takes 3-6 months. Actually, cancer grade is decided on the basis of 3 conditions. Cancerous and healthy cells are compared. A group of healthy cells consists of many types of tissue, whereas in case of cancer, the test shows a group of similar but abnormal cells, this is called low grade cancer. When cancerous cells start appearing separately among healthy cells in the test, it is called high grade tumor. Depending on the grade of cancer, it can be determined how fast it can spread.
Growth rate of cancer cells
In Grade 1, cancer cells look like normal cells and grow very slowly. In Grade 2, cancer cells do not look like normal cells and grow faster than in Grade 1. In Grade 3, the cancer cells are very abnormal and grow very fast. During this time, the cancer has spread rapidly to a large part of the body.
