US President Donald Trump has demanded ABC to immediately fire Jimmy Kimmel. The reason for this is the joke that the late-night host made about First Lady Melania Trump last week, in which he described Melania as a “pregnant widow”.
The comment, made during a monologue skit on Thursday, has once again come into focus after the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday.
What did Trump say?
“Wow, Jimmy Kimmel proves with his poor television ratings that he is no fun at all. He made a statement on his show that is truly shocking. He showed a fake video of First Lady Melania and our son Barron as if they were literally sitting in his studio and listening to them speak which they were not and never will be,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday.
Trump said, “Then he said, our First Lady Melania is here. Look at Melania, how beautiful she is. Mrs. Trump, you have such a glow on your face like the face of a pregnant widow.”
He further said, “Normally I don’t comment on anything they say, but this case has crossed all limits. Disney and ABC should fire Jimmy Kimmel immediately. Thank you all for your attention to this matter! President Donald J Trump.”
Melania calls Kimmel a coward
Earlier on Monday, the First Lady strongly criticized Kimmel and appealed to the network to take a tough stance against him. Also called him a coward. However, ABC has not yet commented on this.
