When Lata Mangeshkar was broken by SD Burman’s words, then a historic match happened

New Delhi.If any singing duo spread the most magic in the golden era of Hindi cinema, it was the pair of Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi. The impact of their voices was such that every filmmaker wanted their voices in their films. In the 1950s and 60s, this pair gave dozens of superhit songs. But there came a time when there was such a dispute between the two legends that they even vowed to give up singing together.
Actually, in the year 1962, there was a difference of opinion between Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi regarding the royalty of songs. Lata Mangeshkar believed that singers should get royalties for their songs, whereas Mohammed Rafi did not agree with this idea. The dispute increased so much that both of them decided not to work together.
After this, both of them did not record any duet song for about four to five years. During this period, Mohammed Rafi gave many superhit songs with singers like Asha Bhosle and Suman Kalyanpur. On the other hand, Lata Mangeshkar also remained busy with her solo songs. But gradually new voices started entering the industry and it started affecting Lata Mangeshkar’s career as well.
