When Oman built a new route in Hormuz, Iran got angry
The Strait of Hormuz may have opened after peace talks between America and Iran, but there has been a big change in the movement of ships through this important waterway compared to before the war. Iran has already made it clear that Hormuz will never be in the same condition as before the war. On Thursday (June 25) also he threatened to activate the new route from Oman.
Oman, with US support, has created a new route in the Strait of Hormuz to evacuate oil tankers and ships from its coastal areas, which has angered Iran. On Thursday (June 25), it threatened a ship coming from Hormuz in Oman if it was in missile range. With this step of Tehran, it is believed that tension may increase once again in Hormuz.
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) on Thursday (June 25) bluntly said that only those routes will be valid for the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which have been decided by the Iranian authorities. The IRGC Navy said this in a statement released on its official news website, Sepah News. He also warned that movement of ships through any route other than the designated routes is dangerous and is not permitted.
This statement came at a time when Oman’s Maritime Security Center issued guidelines for ships going out of the Strait of Hormuz under the agreement with the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Earlier, under an agreement signed on June 18 to end the war between Iran and America, Iran had promised to allow safe passage of commercial ships through this waterway without any charges for 60 days.
On Tuesday, Iran and Oman issued a joint statement saying that the two countries have agreed to form a joint working group to discuss the future management of ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Both countries reiterated their responsibility to ensure safe movement of ships in accordance with international law.
