When two bitter enemies hugged each other in Engineer Iqbal’s ‘Janata Darbar’!
Moradabad. These days, the house of senior Samajwadi Party leader Engineer Iqbal in Thakurdwara area of Moradabad is becoming a big center of expectations of the general public apart from politics. According to the people of the area, his house has now taken the shape of a ‘Janata Darbar’, where every week people from far-flung villages come with their complaints. In this sequence, a public panchayat was organized at the residence of Engineer Iqbal on Sunday, in which hundreds of villagers of the area were present. During this, along with resolving mutual disputes, many social issues were openly discussed.
In fact, in Thakurdwara and surrounding rural areas, it is common to have to go to court over small domestic and land disputes. But this initiative of Engineer Iqbal has shown a new path to the people. In this public hearing held regularly at his residence, not only matters of family differences and transactions are heard, but an attempt is made to find a middle path by making both the parties sit face to face.
Crowd gathered in Jan Panchayat, many cases resolved on the spot
People had started arriving at Engineer Iqbal’s residence since Sunday morning. Within no time a huge crowd gathered in the premises. The special thing about this Jan Panchayat was that no decision was imposed on any party, rather the disputes were resolved in a cordial atmosphere through mutual dialogue. In some old cases related to land and property, both the parties joined hands and decided to end their mutual rivalry.
The local people present on the spot said that it is better to sit and talk on such forums rather than litigating cases that drag on for years in the courts. This saves both time and money, and the most important thing is that bitterness does not dissolve in relationships.
‘People are avoiding legal troubles and financial burden’
While talking to the villagers who came during the Jan Panchayat, SP leader Engineer Iqbal said that it is his basic responsibility to serve the people and reduce their problems. He stressed, “If small differences are resolved by sitting together, the poor people will be saved from making rounds of police stations and courts. Legal processes are not only lengthy but also put a huge financial burden on the common man. Our effort is to maintain brotherhood and mutual harmony in the society.”
This unique ‘Janata Darbar’ became a topic of discussion in Thakurdwara
This is not the first time that such a panchayat has gathered at his house. This trend has intensified significantly in the last few months. Elders and social workers of the area believe that such efforts significantly reduce the possibility of major disputes in rural areas. Not only the complainant but also many elite citizens of the area and Samajwadi Party workers were present in the meeting, who played the role of mediator in resolving the cases. In this Panchayat which lasted till late evening, everyone’s problems were heard one by one and many families were saved from breaking up.
