Thailand’s Bangkok has been named the second best food destination in Asia after Hong Kong as part of Tripadvisor’s 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Destinations.
Thai cuisine is globally recognized for its harmonious and complex balance of four core flavors – sweet, sour, salty, and spicy – often highlighted by aromatic herbs, fresh ingredients, and cooking techniques such as stir-frying and steaming.
Popular dishes include Tom yum (a type of Thai hot and sour soup), Thai curry, Pad Thai, Phanaeng Curry and Tom kha gai (chicken coconut soup).
Vietnam’s Hanoi ranked third, followed by Japan’s Osaka and Sri Lanka’s Colombo.
The 2026 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations are calculated based on the quality and quantity of reviews, specific to each award subcategory, for accommodations, restaurants, and things to do in destinations from travelers globally on Tripadvisor between Oct. 1, 2024 through Sept. 30, 2025.
The awards highlight travelers’ favorite destinations, helping people plan unforgettable trips and discover the world’s best experiences.
