Who Hit 50 Runs In 12 Balls? – With T20 cricket evolving leaps and bounds in the last few years, four batters have mustered 50 off the 12 deliveries that they have faced. The likes of Chris Gayle, Hazratullah Zazai, Yuvraj Singh, and Sahil Chauhan have achieved the feat. Yuvraj’s achievement is widely remembered as it was underpinned by six sixes in an over, stunning England, and leaving them dazed.

The former Indian all-rounder’s feat also came in the high-stakes match against England at Kingsmead in Durban, moments after his heated argument with Andrew Flintoff, as then young Stuart Broad came under the line of fire. The southpaw went on to reach the milestone in only 12 deliveries as Team India mustered a total of 218/4 in their 20 overs. The Men in Blue went on to win by 18 runs. It is also the fastest T20I fifty by a player from a full-member team.
Chris Gayle’s Explosive 12-Ball Fifty in Franchise T20 Cricket
Veteran West Indian batter Chris Gayle had accomplished the feat in the 2016 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) for the Melbourne Renegades against the Adelaide Strikers. However, Gayle’s knock of 56 off 17 deliveries was in a losing cause. Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai clobbered a 12-ball fifty in the 2018 edition of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) and had notably emulated Yuvraj’s feat of six sixes in an over in his swashbuckling 17-ball 62.
Estonian cricketer Sahil Chauhan had also achieved it in June 2024 during his stunning knock of 41-ball 144, laced with six fours and 18 sixes as he helped their side chase down 191 with seven overs to spare.
Yuvraj Singh Holds the Record for the fastest T20I Fifty by a Full-Member Player
Meanwhile, Yuvraj is the only retired cricketer from the list, having quit all forms of the game in June 2019. Gayle, who is currently 46, hasn’t played a competitive game since July 2025 and last featured for the West Indies in November 2021. However, the Jamaican hasn’t announced his retirement officially.
Both Zazai and Chauhan are likely to play for a few more years.
