Who is 5 year old Liam Ramos? When ICE arrested, there was an uproar in America, Trump government under siege

us President donald trump Amidst the strict campaign against immigrants by the US-led government, an incident has come to light which has created outrage across America. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minnesota detained a 5-year-old Ecuadorian boy who had just returned home from preschool. Pictures and videos of this incident are becoming increasingly viral on social media.

Local administration, school authorities, human rights organizations and opposition leaders have expressed strong objection to this action. The case is not only related to the custody of a child, but is also raising serious questions on America’s asylum policy and immigration system.

Four minors detained

Columbia Heights Public School District Superintendent Zena Stanwick said 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was among the four minors detained by ICE. The other detained children are two 17-year-old and a 10-year-old teenager. Stanwyck described the action as deeply worrying, saying “Why was a five-year-old child taken into custody? You can’t tell me this child is a violent criminal?”

Father and son both refugees

According to attorney Mark Prokosh, who is representing the Ramos family, both Liam and his father were living legally in the US as refugee applicants. Despite this, ICE agents took both of them to a family detention center in Dilley, Texas. According to news agency Reuters, when the father and son were returning home from preschool, masked ICE agents took the father into custody.

Viral pictures increased anger

In pictures released after the incident, heavily armed federal officers are seen holding a small child. The child was wearing a blue cape and a Spider-Man backpack and was clearly scared. These pictures created tremendous outrage on social media. According to eyewitnesses, the agents tried to lure the mother out of the house by using the child as bait.

Columbia Heights School Board President Mary Granlund told reporters that Liam’s father told his wife to stay inside, possibly out of fear that he too would be taken into custody. He said school officials, an adult family member and neighbors offered to take the child with them, but ICE officers turned them down.

DHS denies the allegations

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has denied that ICE agents targeted the child. Department spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement that the child’s father himself insisted that his son stay with him. “For the child’s safety, one of our ICE officers remained with the child while other officers arrested Conejo Arias,” he said.

Defense of Vice President JD Vance

US Vice President JD Vance also supported the DHS statement and accused the child’s father of abandoning his son and running away. During a press conference in Minneapolis he said “What should they have done? Should they have let a five-year-old child freeze to death? Shouldn’t they have arrested an illegal immigrant?”

Kamala Harris’s sharp attack

After this incident, protests against the actions of ICE have intensified across the country, in which Minnesota has emerged as the major center. Former US Vice President Kamala Harris made a direct attack on the Trump administration.
