Who was Alireza Tangsiri?
Alireza Tangsiri was born in Bushehr province of southern Iran. He served during the Iran-Iraq War and the Tanker Wars of the 1980s, which is also seen as the initial conflict between the US and Iran.
After this, Tangsiri progressed rapidly in the IRGC Navy. He commanded the 1st Naval District in Bandar Abbas and served as deputy commander from 2010 to 2018. Later he became the chief of this force.
Tangsiri’s alleged death adds to the list of several senior Iranian officials who have been targeted since the war began on February 28. On this day America and Israel launched joint military attacks on Iran.
