New Delhi: Gurpreet Singh alias Goldie Dhillon, one of India’s most wanted gangsters, has been arrested in Madrid, the capital of Spain. Madrid Police took this action after receiving intelligence from Indian security agencies. Spanish agencies caught him on the input of Anti Gangster Task Force.
Was absconding from Punjab, NIA had kept a reward of Rs 10 lakh
Goldie Dhillon is a resident of Rajpura, Patiala, Punjab. He was living secretly abroad for a long time. Many serious cases related to murder, attempt to murder, extortion and illegal weapons are registered against him. National Investigation Agency NIA had declared a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his arrest.
Was close to Lawrence, then became his enemy
At one time Dhillon was considered close to Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar. But later there was a rift between the two. According to agencies, he was now working against Bishnoi network. He ran a network of extortion and target killings through gangs operating in Canada and Europe.
According to police records, Dhillon is accused of several crimes in Chandigarh and Punjab. His name also came up in the firing in Chandigarh Sector-5 in 2024 and the murder of a cashier of a medical hall in Sector-11 on June 13. According to reports, he reached Canada via Germany and was operating his gang from there. He also took responsibility for some firing in Canada and the murder of a businessman.
Firing was done at Kapil Sharma’s cafe
The investigating agencies are also probing his links with some Khalistani organizations. In the same year, his name also came up in the attacks on comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada. Kapil Sharma’s Surrey restaurant ‘Caps Cafe’ came under target thrice last year.
The first firing occurred on July 10 when there were employees inside. For the second time on August 8, about 25 rounds of bullets were fired. The third attack took place on 17 October. Goldie Dhillon and Kuldeep Sidhu had taken responsibility for all these attacks. At that time Dhillon’s name was being said to be associated with Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Network and arrest abroad
Dhillon was running a gang after staying out of India for a long time. Spanish police, in coordination with Indian agencies, caught him from Madrid. Now there will be further process regarding his extradition.
The agencies want to interrogate him and find out his foreign links and funding network. The arrest of Goldie Dhillon is being considered as a major blow to the gangster network in Punjab and Haryana.
