Beaten in in-laws house, husband threw urine! Savita Pradhan became IAS after fighting again

‘You are strength, you are peace… you are the ray of hope…’ Some stories are not just told, they are felt. The story of Savita Pradhan is also similar. Heart-wrenching, hair-raising, and ultimately brings tears to the eyes and fills the heart with excitement. The journey of Savita, the daughter of a middle-class family from a small village in Madhya Pradesh, is no less than a film script. But this script was not written by any writer, it was written by life itself with blood, tears and screams of countless nights.

Savita Pradhan may be an IAS today but the journey to reach this point was so difficult that everyone will be surprised to hear about it. Savita Pradhan was a bright student and she studied in a government school. When Savita passed 10th with good marks, her parents were proud of her. Savita’s parents sent her to another school to study further, but traveling from the village to another school was difficult because only one bus went to the village and that too occasionally. Whose fare at that time was Rs 2. Savita had a desire to study, so instead of taking the bus, considering her financial situation, she traveled miles on foot.

When marriage became hell

Savita was still studying when the marriage proposal came. The parents found the house suitable and convinced Savita for marriage on the condition that her in-laws would educate her further. But Savita did not know that a false promise was being made to her. Forgetting about his studies, he was sent to such a hell in the name of his in-laws where he did not even get food. Savita, who got married at an early age, spent every day with difficulty there. Hell started from the day she went to her in-laws house as a bride. There was no end to the cruelty of her husband and in-laws. Working tirelessly day and night and living on an empty stomach was the most painful thing. He was beaten again and again. According to the Times, Savita tells that she used to see such days at her in-laws’ house that she would hide rotis in her undergarments and eat them in the bathroom.

Father’s false promise, suicide and decision to leave in-laws

There came a time when Savita expected her father to support her in those difficult times. Savita’s father once came to meet her in-laws. Savita requested her father to take her away from here as she might even die here. The father falsely promised that he would take her along with both the children in the evening. But Savita’s eyes got tired while waiting for her father’s path. At that time, Savita had accepted that no one would come to rescue her from this hell. The situation of beating and starvation with Savita remained the same. Then she thought of committing suicide and started hanging the noose on the ceiling fan of the room. Savita tells that when she was putting the noose in the fan to hang herself, she saw her mother-in-law’s face from the window. Mother-in-law also saw this but did not try to stop her daughter-in-law from doing this. At that time Savita understood and asked herself – How am I giving my life for people? Savita took a firm decision to leave that hell and left her in-laws’ house with her two children.

Relative helped and the journey of education

Savita could not go to her maternal home because she knew that her respect-loving parents would not allow her to stay there. Savita went to the house of a sister-in-law of her distant relative. Understanding Savita’s plight, that relative gave her shelter in his house. In this bad situation, Savita started working in a beauty parlor. But taking care of two children was also necessary, so Savita’s mother became her support and helped in taking care of the children. Savita wanted to study further but did not have enough money. He also started giving tuition to children. With this income, Savita first did BA and then MA.

Husband threw urine but still did not accept defeat

Savita tells that when she was preparing for the examinations, her husband arrived looking for her. He was beaten up without any reason. Not only this, Savita’s husband even threw his urine on her. But Savita did not give up. She took bath, changed her clothes and despite having injury marks on her body, she went for the exam. Once Savita was reading the newspaper when her eyes fell on the UPSC exam. He didn’t even know its meaning but the salary seemed so attractive that he decided that if I get selected in this, both my children will grow up comfortably.

When she became IAS and taught her husband a lesson

Savita passed the exam with hard work and dedication and became an IAS officer. He joined civil service and got himself posted in the Municipal Corporation office. Everything was going well, then her husband once again returned into her life. Despite being an IAS officer, he continued violence. Savita believed that how should she tell that an IAS officer is a victim of domestic violence in his own home. He was ashamed to tell this. Like always, Savita Pradhan’s husband beat her, this time he could not control himself and told his problem to one of his senior officers. The officer said to Savita, ‘Now when the husband comes and beats you, call me directly.’ Savita was waiting that this time she would not let any injustice happen to herself. Then the day came when Savita’s husband returned and started beating her. Savita immediately called her officer. He reached there immediately and taught Savita’s husband a lesson.

courage can change everything

That day Savita realized that remaining silent was her biggest mistake. Today Savita Pradhan is on the post of Chief Municipal Officer. She is handling the charge of four departments. But the most important thing is that they are no longer silent. She says to every woman who is still suffering silently – never tolerate your pain. No matter how cruel life is, you can change it with determination and courage. Savita’s story is not just the success story of an IAS officer. This is the story of millions of women who survive even after being broken.
