Shrijana Gumalla is not just an officer but an example of devotion to duty. In the year 2020, when the entire country was struggling with the Corona epidemic, he took a step that surprised everyone. Just 20 days after delivery, she reached office with her newborn baby in her lap. She had got six months’ maternity leave, but she left it midway.

When he was asked about this decision, he said that administrative responsibility was more important during the pandemic. In such difficult times, he felt that it was necessary for him to return to work. His pictures went viral on social media and people appreciated his dedication.

Journey from Hyderabad to UPSC

Born on 24 April 1985 in Hyderabad, Shrijana belongs to an educated and administrative family. His father Balaramaiah Gumalla was also an IAS officer. Since childhood, he had dreamed of joining administrative service. He graduated in Psychology from Osmania University and then completed his Masters in Political Science from Hyderabad University. Here he topped and won the gold medal. After this he took PhD degree from V University of Tirupati.

For some time he worked as an Education Management Consultant in Dr. Reddy Foundation, but his real goal was UPSC.

Great success in UPSC

Srijana passed the state service examination and started working as an administrative officer in the Health and Family Welfare Department. After this, he made his last attempt and gave the Civil Services Examination in 2012. In the year 2013, he fulfilled his dream of becoming an IAS by securing All India Rank 44. This achievement was the result of his hard work and self-confidence.

New responsibility, new expectations

With the formation of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, the responsibility of giving a new direction to the development of the city lies on the shoulders of Shrijana. Cyberabad is a big center of IT and corporate activities, hence strengthening the administrative system here is considered very important. Shrijana believes that better governance is possible only through transparency, accountability and communication with citizens.

Family support and balance

Srijana’s husband Raviteja is a lawyer by profession and practices in Andhra Pradesh. Both respect each other’s work and support each other at every step. It is not easy to balance family and responsibilities amidst a busy administrative life, but Srijana has proved that every challenge can be faced if the willpower is strong.
