Jerrssis Wadia burst into the spotlight during the Big Bash League 2025–26, producing a standout innings in the Adelaide Strikers’ fixture against Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on December 27.
In only his second outing in the tournament, the all-rounder delivered a match-turning burst, scoring 34 from 16 deliveries during a tense pursuit. The defining moment came in the 15th over, where he plundered 24 runs by launching three straight maximums and a boundary off Jack Wildermuth, flipping the contest on its head.
An India-born cricketer with a background in Baroda’s age-group system, Wadia shifted base to Australia after his early years. With his family heritage linked to Mumbai and his parents settled there, his path to professional cricket demanded persistence. He is a left-handed batter and a left-arm spinner who earned a spot in the Adelaide Strikers Under 19 programme prior to the Covid pause.

Wadia earned his Big Bash League opportunity in the 2025–26 season after being drafted into the Adelaide Strikers squad as a local replacement for Alex Carey, who is away on Ashes duty. He made his debut against the Melbourne Stars on December 23 but had a quiet outing, scoring seven runs before being dismissed by Haris Rauf.
He made a far bigger impact against the Brisbane Heat, walking in during a challenging 180-run chase and injecting momentum with confident and fearless strokeplay. Despite his late burst, the Strikers narrowly missed out, losing by seven runs in a tense finish.
Even though the Strikers were unable to secure a win, Wadia’s dynamic contribution caught the eye and highlighted his emergence as a promising name in Australia’s domestic cricket scene.
