Mumbai ODI series is being played between India and South Africa. The first two ODIs have been highscoring and now the result of the series will be known in the third match. India’s most experienced batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli caught everyone’s attention with their performances in the first and second ODIs. Virat Kohli played century innings in both the matches and has strengthened his place. However, there is a lot of discussion going on about the future of Rohit and Kohli. Meanwhile, former coach Ravi Shastri has warned those raising questions about the place of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the Indian team.
Ravi Shastri said during an interview (News) that any attempt to sideline the senior pair is not acceptable. He took on the critics who were raising doubts after Kohli and Rohit’s retirement from Test and T20 cricket. “Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are ODI legends. You can’t mess with players of that level. Some people are doing that. That’s all I will say,” Shastri replied in a stern tone, and then added, “And if these two get on with it, press the right buttons, then all those people who are messing up will disappear from the scene very quickly.”
When asked who was ‘having fun’ with the careers of these players, Shastri, without naming anyone, gave a serious warning, “The people doing it are doing it. If they get their mind right and press the right button, then everyone will be ruined.” He said that the fitness, hunger for runs and passion of these players will decide whether they will play till 2027 or not.
