Who will captain Delhi Capitals Kl Rahul or Axar Patel? Owner makes a Shocking revelation
Well, KL Rahul has now been added to the Delhi Capitals following the exit of Rishabh Pant from the franchise. Questions were, however, who would captain the revamped Delhi Capitals.
As DC co-owner Parth Jindal said, however, that both the new signee KL Rahul and the past vice-captain Axar Patel would lead the new-look Delhi side together.
Delhi Capitals paid a colossal Rs 14 crore for the Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul to replace a departing Pant, who walked away to LSG for a whopping Rs 27 lakh.
“We were looking for stability in the top order, someone with experience who can build the innings. And, I think KL Rahul, given his record in the IPL, he’s someone who’s consistently given more than 400 runs every season. I think with the Kotla wicket, it is going to suit his game. We’re very excited to have him,” Jindal said.
Both Axar and Rahul will be expected to lead all the junior players together and share the responsibility of captaincy as a pair, added Jindal at the conclusion of Day 1 of the IPL 2025 Auction.
Arising from these traditions, a new Delhi Capitals team will operate in consonance with the Superman, in every other sense of the word.
Delhi retained Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and uncapped Indian batter Abhishek Porel among others and entered the IPL mega auction purse of Rs 73 crore having already spent Rs 47 crore to retain four players.
On the very first day of the auction, the Delhi franchise signed no less than nine players, including superstars such as Mitchell Starc and Harry Brook. They also exercised the Right-To-Match (RTM) card to reacquire Jake Fraser-McGurk for a whopping Rs 9 crore.
More star power was added to DC’s unit in the form of Faf du Plessis and even some bowling depth in the pacer Mukesh Kumar to add icing to the cake of a complete squad.
