What if rain becomes the villain in the semi-finals of T20 World Cup? Know whether it is reserve day or not

T20 World Cup 2026 Semi-finals Reserve Day: All four teams have been decided for the semi-finals of T20 World Cup 2026. India, England, South Africa and New Zealand have made their place in the semi-finals. Now the knockout matches of the tournament will be played. The first semi-final match will be played between South Africa and New Zealand. Whereas the second semi-final match will be played between India and England. In such a situation, there will be a question in the minds of the fans that if the match is canceled due to rain, then which team will reach the final, so let us know the rules of ICC.

Reserved day has been kept for semi-final matches

According to ICC rules, to determine the result of the semi-finals, it is necessary to play a match of at least 10-10 overs. However, let us tell you that ICC has kept reserved days for both the semi-finals of T20 World Cup 2026. If a match of at least 10-10 overs cannot be played on the first day, then this match will be played on the reserved day. If there is no 10-10 overs play even on the reserve day, then the match will be canceled and in that case the team on top of Super-8 will reach the final.

India and New Zealand will suffer loss due to cancellation of semi-final match

If both the semi-final matches of T20 World Cup 2026 are cancelled, then South Africa and England will benefit from it and both the teams will reach the finals, because both these teams are on top in both the groups of Super-8. South Africa is on top in Group-1 of Super-8. Whereas England is at the top of Group-2. Whereas New Zealand and India are second in their respective groups in Super-8. In such a situation, if the match is canceled due to rain, then New Zealand and Team India will suffer loss.

The first semi-final match between South Africa and New Zealand will be played on March 4 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Whereas the second semi-final match will be played between India and England on March 5 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. There is no monsoon in the country at present, so there is little hope that rain will disrupt these matches.
