“Whole of Australia will remind India about their Test series whitewash against New Zealand”: Simon Doull
Former New Zealand fast bowler Simon Doull has said the Australian players and fans will remind India of their humiliating Test series defeat against New Zealand at home. The subcontinent team will soon play the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under, and things will not be easy for the visiting side.
For the first time, India have been whitewashed in a three-match series at home. India had won 18 consecutive Test series before New Zealand ended their run. Rohit Sharma and other players have three weeks to recover before they take on Australia in Perth.
“Although India have won two consecutive Test series in Australia, the fans and players will not spare them. The whole of Australia will remind them about their series whitewash against New Zealand. They will do it every single minute, every single moment, the day India step into Australia,” Doull said on JioCinema.
“They need four wins and a draw to make it to the final of the World Test Championship. Rohit Sharma and his men need to answer a lot of tough questions. It will require a big effort to bounce back from the recent defeat. The same set of players are travelling to Australia, and it is never easy to play in that part of the world,” he added.
Simon Doull highlighted India’s blunder in recent times. “There was a time when India used to give good surfaces for Test matches. Their batters had a good run on those tracks while the spinners outshined the rival batters. But now India are preparing rank-turners, which allow the visiting spinners to expose their batters and win matches for their teams.”
India have lost five out of their last 12 home Test matches since the previous edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India in 2023.
