Why are employees nervous about the 8th Pay Commission?

8th Pay: Central government employees and pensioners have been waiting for the Eighth Pay Commission for a long time. Meanwhile, many misleading news are spreading rapidly on social media. Some viral messages claimed that retired employees will now neither get dearness allowance nor the benefits of the Eighth Pay Commission. These things have worried lakhs of employees and pensioners.

Will pensioners be deprived of DA hike?

Viral messages on social media said that under the Finance Act 2025, the government has stopped DA and Pay Commission related benefits for pensioners. But the truth is completely different from this. No such decision has been taken by the Central Government. There has been no cut in the benefits received by pensioners.

PIB Fact Check exposed the rumor

The Government’s Press Information Bureau Fact Check Unit has termed these viral claims as completely false. PIB has clearly said that there has been no change in the rules for pensioners regarding the Eighth Pay Commission or dearness allowance. Whatever messages are circulating on social media are completely misleading and false.

To which employees these benefits will not apply

In fact, only a limited change has been made in the rules. This change has been made under CCS Pension Rules 2021. This rule applies to those employees who left government service and joined a public undertaking and were later dismissed from service due to serious indiscipline. In such cases, pension and retirement benefits may be stopped.
