Pitru Paksha 2024: These days, the period of Pitru Paksha is going on, which is one of the rituals performed for the peace of the souls of ancestors. Today, Tuesday, is the seventh day of Shradh. On this occasion, the descendants perform rituals for their ancestors. Actually, the period of Pitru Paksha, which started from 17 September, is of 16 days. During this time, people perform the rituals of Pinddaan and Shradh according to the day.

Although many rules are followed during worship for ancestors, but tarpan is always done with Kusha. The pindas that are made in Pinddaan are made of rice only. Why is this necessary? Let us know according to astrology.

Why rice balls are made?

During the ritual of Pind Daan in Pitru Paksha, rice is prepared and worshipped. The reason behind this is stated in the scriptures that rice has a cooling effect due to which the properties contained in it remain active for a long time. If the ancestors get coolness in this and they have a feeling of self-satisfaction for a long time, then rice is prepared with pindas. In this, rice is directly related to the moon. It is said that the pinda made through the moon reaches the ancestors. Therefore, rice is considered the best for preparing pinda. Apart from rice, pinda is also prepared with barley or black sesame.

Know why tarpan is done with Kusha

During Pitru Paksha, the rules of tarpan in the worship of ancestors are different, according to which Kusha is used during tarpan. If we believe in the beliefs, then during the churning of the ocean, some drops of nectar from the Amrit Kalash fell on Kusha. After this, Kusha became immortal forever. It is said that Kusha never gets destroyed nor dries up, it grows again without any use. It is said that when a person leaves the body, the soul does not have a medium to accept tarpan, so by performing tarpan with Kusha, the water reaches the ancestors and they accept it easily. Some people hold Kusha in their hands, while some make a ring of it and wear it. It is also said about Kusha that Kusha is such a sacred grass whose effect is cool, in such a situation, by wearing it and doing Pinddaan and Tarpan of ancestors, coolness reaches the ancestors and the ancestors accept it.
