Now he will start the year 2026 as the captain of Team India in the Youth ODI series against South Africa. Actually, just before the Under 19 World Cup, three Youth ODI matches are going to be organized between India and South Africa. Ayush Mhatre has suffered a wrist injury and BCCI wants to keep him fit for the Under-19 World Cup. For this reason, he has been kept out of the ODI series to be held just before the tournament. Had Ayush been available, he would have got the captaincy. In his absence, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the most important member of the team. For this reason he was handed over the captaincy.

Now the selectors have rewarded this performance by making him the captain.

At the age of 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is spoiling the condition of big bowlers. He has a special talent and BCCI probably wants to put pressure on him to see how he will perform. If Vaibhav proves to be a good leader, then in future he can be appointed captain of the Under 19 team and he can also captain Bihar in domestic cricket.
