New Delhi: Actor Anil Kapoor has joined the bandwagon of stars who have rejected Pan Masala ads. According to Pinkvilla, the Animal actor rejected the offer for the pan masala brand to star in a commercial. He reportedly turned down the offer as he “believes he has a responsibility towards fans”.
Earlier, several actors such as Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and others were criticised for promoting pan masala. Later, Akshay stepped away from being featured in an ad for a pan masala brand. Let’s delve into more details!
Anil Kapoor rejects pan masala ad
According to the Pinkvilla report, actor Anil Kapoor rejected a Rs 10 crore pan masala advertisement. The publication quoted a source close to the actor saying that The Night Manager actor was quick to decline the offer as he feels strongly about not endorsing products that could potentially harm public health, regardless of the huge compensation.
Earlier, actors such as Kartik Aaryan, Allu Arjun, Smriti Irani and Yash have also rejected offers to endorse pan masala brands. Apart from them, actors such as Ammy Virk and John Abraham have also stated that they will not endorse paan masala brands.
Talking about never endorsing a pan masala brand, John Abraham said that he won’t “sell death” while Ammy Virk said that he won’t do a pan masala ad for money. Smriti Irani said that she refused the ad because “can you imagine somebody who is trying to make them as though you are a part of the family suddenly selling paan masala”. Kartik Aaryan said that “it doesn’t fit with his plan” while Allu Arjun turned down the offer as he doesn’t consume the products himself.
