Why did team India not pick Kuldeep Yadav for the BGT? Here’s what you need to know

The Indian squad being the last team to arrive in Australia for the highly anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy series was declared on Saturday, which rested star spinner Kuldeep Yadav in a bid to resolve a re-occurring problem in the pacer’s groin.

Yadav was declared unfit and did not travel with the Indian contingent for its Australia Tour as he has been sent to the BCCI Centre of Excellence for rehabilitation on account of his nagging left groin injury that has pestered him for quite some time now and requires urgent medical care after the New Zealand Test series.

The past couple of years evolved this 29-year-old spinner from a junior squad player to a pillar of the patronage with the team because of some performances that changed the course of the game in her nation’s favor.

Kuldeep bowled in the first innings but took only 3 wickets and as a result, lost the match to the visiting New Zealand players who came for the First Test of the series which was a nightmare for the whole nation.

However, he was not included in the playing eleven in the second Test as India is finding it difficult to save the Pune Test match.

However, taking into consideration the long season ahead, the BCCI has chosen to play safe and try to iron out the factors that have put the player under duress

India’s squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy:
