Why did the weather suddenly start changing in the country? 1000 km long ‘rain band’ became the reason, also the sound of new disturbance
New Delhi: The month of March usually signals the beginning of summer, but this time the weather has surprised everyone. Cold has suddenly increased in many parts of the country, at some places it is raining and at some places strong winds and hail are falling. Snowfall in the hilly areas has reminded us of winter. This unexpected change has surprised people. An unusual western disturbance is responsible for this major change in weather.
This disturbance is active over India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The special thing is that this time it is not spread in the usual curved form, but in the form of a long straight strip, which extends for about 1,000 kilometers. For this reason, rain, strong winds, thunder and hailstorm are being seen simultaneously in different parts of the country.
effect of cold winds of high altitude
The icy winds blowing in the upper atmosphere have made this situation more serious. These cold winds are colliding with the moist clouds present near the ground and making them more active. Due to this process, the intensity of the weather has increased and sudden heavy rains and storms are being seen at many places.
effect spread across the country
The effect of this weather system is not limited to just one or two states, rather it is spread in many parts of the country. Its impact has also been seen in North Madhya Pradesh, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Western Rajasthan, Haryana, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and some parts of South India. While snowfall is occurring in the mountains, rain with strong winds has been recorded in the plains.
Why is there so much activity in March?
Generally, western disturbances are more active between December and February and their strength reduces by the end of March. But this time it is not considered normal to have such intense and widespread weather activities in March. This is the reason why this change is being considered unusual.
The weather may change further
According to the Meteorological Department, another weak western disturbance is likely to arrive around March 22. Due to this, slight changes in the weather may continue, although its intensity is expected to be less. The effect of this weather change is clearly visible on the temperature also. In many areas of North India, the afternoon temperature was recorded between 13 to 19 degrees Celsius, which is much lower than the normal March. Where the temperature usually reaches 28 to 35 degrees at this time, this drop has increased the feeling of cold.
