Why did they buy Cameron Green for Rs 25 crores… KKR got a bad rap from the CSK legend.

Before the start of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is the most talked about team. After facing opposition for buying Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman, this franchise is now troubled by injuries to its fast bowlers. Harshit Rana is out of IPL 2026. At the same time, Sri Lankan fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana will also be out of the initial matches.

Apart from the injuries of the players, KKR’s strategy also remains in the headlines. The decision to make Ajinkya Rahane the captain again is being criticized. Also, questions are being raised on spending Rs 25.2 crore on Australian all-rounder Cameron Green. Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Subramaniam Badrinath said that such a big bid should not have been made just because of Green’s PR.

‘KKR’s wrong decision to buy Green’

Badrinath said on his YouTube channel, ‘You have signed him for 25 crores and he is in very bad form. His performance for Australia in the T20 World Cup was very poor. Cameron Green was bought for such a huge amount only because of his PR. He doesn’t deserve that price. Has he single-handedly done something amazing in IPL? Australian players always get a lot of publicity and he benefited from it. I believe that this decision of KKR was wrong.

Rahane is the weak link

Three-time IPL champion KKR finished eighth last season under Rahane’s captaincy. Now when he was once again handed over the reins of the team, Badrinath said that his captaincy is the weak link.

Badrinath said, ‘Ajinkya Rahane is definitely a weakness. His captaincy is the weak link. All his big investments have proved wrong. He trusted and invested in Harshit Rana but he is now out of the team. Pathirana was a big investment and now he is not even sure to play. Mustafizur was another big investment and he too is out of the team now. He has taken many expensive decisions and most of his big investments seem to be failing.
