Why does Netanyahu’s country not want Pakistan to enter Israel’s no-entry Gaza? New twist in Trump’s peace mission
News India Live, Digital Desk: Whenever Donald Trump comes into limelight, he brings with him some big and shocking plan. These days they are trying to prepare a ‘Board of Peace’ or a special diplomatic framework to restore peace in Gaza. There is discussion that some Muslim countries can also be included in this process. But as soon as Pakistan’s name appeared in this list, Israel clearly expressed its uneasiness. After all, what problem does Israel have with Pakistan? It is not very difficult to understand this. In fact, there are no formal diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Israel. Pakistan is among the few countries in the world that do not even recognize Israel as a nation. It is clearly written on the passport of Pakistan that you can leave ‘Israel’ and go to any country in the world. In such a situation, it is natural for Israel to think that a country which does not recognize it, how can it ensure peace in its home (security interests in the case of Gaza)? Israel fears that if a radical-minded power like Pakistan plays any role in Gaza, it could increase the security crisis. Trump’s ‘peace board’ and challenges Donald Trump wants the future of Gaza to be decided with the Arab countries. His close and knowledgeable people are trying to make some big Islamic countries a part of ‘peacekeeping’ or handling the administration. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government want to give priority only to those countries with which they have good relations, like the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or Bahrain. It is not just a matter of diplomacy, it is a matter of trust. Israeli sources say that they do not want to see any country even near Gaza which openly supports extremist ideology or which lacks stability in its own country. For Israel, the Gaza issue is directly related to its security, and they are in no mood to take any ‘external risk’ here. Overall, as wonderful as Trump’s peace plan looks on paper, it is equally challenging to implement it on the ground. On one hand Trump wants to take everyone along, while on the other hand Israel has its own conditions. It remains to be seen how Trump resolves this war of ‘ego and diplomacy’.
