Why is Anthropic’s AI platform Claude down on March 3?
Anthropic’s AI platform Claude is currently experiencing service disruption on March 3, with elevated errors reported across multiple services.
According to the official incident report, the issue is affecting:
claude.ai (web interface)
platform.claude.com (formerly console.anthropic.com)
Claude Code
Related cowork and platform services
The company marked the issue as “Investigating” at 03:15 UTC, stating: “We are currently investigating this issue.” Subsequent updates at 04:39 UTC, 04:41 UTC and 04:43 UTC confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
Why is Claude down?
As of now, Anthropic has not disclosed a specific root cause. The status page indicates “elevated errors,” which typically means users are encountering failed requests, login problems, timeouts or service instability rather than a complete system shutdown.
Importantly, no official confirmation has yet been provided regarding API-level disruption. The current notice primarily highlights issues affecting the web app, platform dashboard and Claude Code services.
What services are impacted?
Based on the incident details, the following are affected:
Users accessing Claude through the claude.ai web interface
Developers using the platform dashboard
Those working within Claude Code
Associated collaborative (cowork) features
The outage is ongoing, and no estimated resolution time has been announced.
Part of a turbulent week
Today’s disruption follows multiple partial outages recorded over the past week, including significant incidents on February 25, 26, 27, 28 and March 2. With only March 1 showing no downtime, Claude has experienced recurring instability across six of the past seven days.
As demand for generative AI platforms continues to grow, repeated elevated error incidents raise questions about infrastructure resilience and load management.
Anthropic has yet to publish a detailed technical explanation for today’s disruption. You can check here –
Further updates are awaited.
