Know why Kadhi is made on Karva Chauth

Although, on the day of Karva Chauth, women fill the kitchen with various dishes, but among these dishes, Kadhi is the most important. Actually, yellow color has special significance in Hindu religion. Therefore, there is a tradition of making yellow colored kadhi on this day. Many other things are also prepared but curry is an important dish. It is believed that eating yellow colored dishes on this day brings happiness and prosperity in the family.

Ingredients for making curry

Gram flour- 1 cup
Curd- 1 cup
Water- 4 cups
Turmeric powder- 1/2 teaspoon
Red chilli powder- 1/4 teaspoon
Asafoetida – a pinch
Cumin- 1 teaspoon
Mustard – 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves- 8-10
Salt- as per taste
Oil- for frying

for pakodas

Gram flour- 1/2 cup
Onion- 1 chopped
Green chilli – 2 chopped
Coriander leaves – chopped
Salt- as per taste
Water- as per need

Recipe to make Karva Chauth Special Kadhi

First of all, add gram flour, onion, green chilli, coriander leaves and salt in a bowl and mix well.

Then add water little by little and make a thick batter. Now put small pakodas in hot oil with a spoon and fry them till they turn golden.

Then add curd and water in a pan and beat it well.

Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, asafoetida, cumin and salt and mix.

Now place the pan on the gas and cook on medium flame. Keep stirring continuously so that the curd does not curdle.

When the mixture starts boiling, add gram flour to it and mix well. Cook until it thickens.

After this, add fried pakodas to the curry and cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes.
finally, serve hot kadhi with rice or roti.
