Pride is a feeling when a person becomes proud of something of his own. In such a situation, a person starts considering himself better and higher than others. Pride is considered a vice in the Bible, the holy scriptures of Christianity, and the Quran of Islam. On one hand, in Islam it is believed that Allah does not like proud people. It is also believed that those who were proud during their lifetime do not get heaven after death. On the other hand, in Christianity, a person has been advised not to be proud of anything he owns. According to the Bible, pride is not just a vice, but the root of other vices.

 

A story is mentioned in the Quran, the most sacred scripture of the Muslim religion. It is told in Surah Al-Baqarah of the Quran that due to pride the worshiper Iblis did not follow the orders of Allah and became Satan. Furthermore, the story of Lucifer’s fall in the Bible makes us understand how he became proud of his beauty and intelligence, which caused him to leave Heaven. Quran about pride?

It is written in Surah An-Nahl of the Quran that Allah does not like those who are proud. People who are proud of their thinking and consider themselves better than others, such people have been called Mutkabbirin in the Quran. It is clearly stated in the Quran that Allah gets angry after seeing the arrogant nature.

 

It is mentioned in Surah Al-Aaraf of the Quran that due to pride, a person’s ability to think and understand gets affected. In such a situation, a person is unable to differentiate between right and wrong because a veil of pride falls over him.

According to the Quran, a person should think that the things he is proud of are all temporary. One day every person has to answer before Allah. Therefore there is no reason to be proud of anything of ours. In the Hadith, pride has been described as a disease of the heart, the cure for which is repeatedly seeking forgiveness from Allah, praying and adopting humility.

Biblical proverbs tell us that pride and wisdom do not go together. That is, the person who becomes proud of his intelligence, his intelligence starts getting destroyed. Proverbs states that pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a stumbling. ‘Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a stumbling.’ Proverbs also tells that pride is not only an evil, but it also indicates the downfall of a person.
