Actually, the fine dust particles that come with the open doors, windows and air of the house gradually start accumulating on the fan blades. Initially this layer is very thin, but if cleaning is not done for several months, it takes the form of a thick layer. Most people do not clean the fan for three-four months or even more, due to which dust keeps accumulating. The fan blades are designed in such a way that their surface is smooth and they can cut the air and throw it downwards with less resistance. But when dust accumulates on the blade, its surface becomes rough. This restricts the flow of air and the blades have to work harder than before to push air. In this process the air flow reduces and you do not feel the coolness as before.

When a fan does not provide the required amount of air, people often increase its speed or keep it running for a longer period of time. This habit can increase electricity consumption. Additionally, dust accumulation also slightly increases the weight of the blade, which puts additional stress on the motor. Continuously working under high pressure can reduce the efficiency of the motor and also increases the chances of it getting damaged in the long run. Experts say that if the fan blades are cleaned every 15 days to a month, then its ability to provide air remains better. This prevents unnecessary pressure on the motor and the fan works more efficiently. As a result, power consumption remains controlled and the lifespan of the fan also increases.

For cleaning, first turn off the power switch and if possible, also turn off the main supply. After this, clean the blade thoroughly with a dry or slightly wet microfiber cloth. If necessary, mild soap solution can also be used. After cleaning, dry the blades completely, so that moisture does not reach the motor. Therefore, next time if you feel that the fan is not providing as much air as before, then first of all check the cleanliness of its blades. Just a few minutes of cleaning can not only provide better cooling, but can also help reduce unnecessary electricity consumption.
