Why is there an uproar over Operation Sindoor, martyrdom and Rajnath Singh’s statement in Parliament?

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the opposition of spreading rumors regarding Operation Sindoor. BJP claims that the opposition has fueled anti-national propaganda and tried to distort the statement of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said that opposition leaders are deliberately distorting the statement given by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in Parliament. He demanded the opposition to apologize to the brave soldiers and the country.

Amit Malviya said that the opposition is wrongly propagating that the government is denying the sacrifice of the soldiers. He said, ‘The opposition should apologize to the martyrs of Operation Sindoor and the nation as they have spent months spreading false rumours, running hostile propaganda and distorting the parliamentary statement of the Defense Minister to allege that the government is denying the sacrifice of the soldiers.’

Amit Malviya, Head, IT Cell, BJP:-
In fact, the Defense Minister’s statement was given only to refute the completely false rumor that pilots were killed in India. Operation Sindoor was a complete success, in which more than 100 terrorists and Pakistani military personnel were killed and heavy damage was caused to Pakistani positions.

Amit Malviya said, ‘The government honored the martyrs at the National War Memorial and provided all facilities to their families, while the opposition weaponized the sacrifice of martyrs for political gains. History will remember who stood with the soldiers and who stood with those who tarnished their honour.

What did Rajnath Singh say in Parliament?

Rajnath Singh, Defense Minister:-
Our opposition people ask how many of our planes were shot down. I think it does not represent national public sentiments. They never once asked us how many enemy aircraft our army shot down. If they have to ask a question then it is whether India destroyed the terrorist hideouts. I want to ask my opposition colleagues, was Operation Sindoor successful? The answer is yes. Ask the question whether our soldiers suffered any damage, the answer is no.

What is BJP’s explanation?

Amit Malviya said that Rajnath Singh’s statement was only to stop the false rumor that India had lost its fighter pilots in the operation. He termed this attitude of the opposition as a political conspiracy. Malviya said that creating resentment by taking a sentence out of context is clearly political dishonesty.

What has the Defense Ministry said?

On Saturday, the Defense Ministry also made it clear that the martyrdom of six soldiers in Operation Sindoor was not hidden. The ministry said that the DGMO had informed about the loss of soldiers and civilians in a press briefing a day after the operation was halted. The six martyrs were also later given gallantry awards, which were announced on 14 August 2025. The army also immediately paid tribute on social media. The Defense Ministry termed the posts misrepresenting Rajnath Singh’s statement as misleading and false. Congress accused the government of hiding the martyrdom of six soldiers and not giving them respect.
