Why is there not a single Indian bowler in the top-10 most successful bowlers of T20? Know… Gujarati
Indian cricket has always been famous for its batting, but Javagal Srinath, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, R. Bowlers like Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah have left their mark as bowlers at the international level. The names of Kumble, Harbhajan, Ashwin and Bumrah are considered among the best bowlers in the history of cricket. However, the surprising thing is that there is not a single Indian bowler in the top-10 most successful bowlers of T20.
Talking about the top 10 bowlers of T20 including international cricket, domestic cricket and league cricket, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is in the first place, who has taken 660 wickets in 487 matches between 2015 to 2025. Dwayne Bravo is in second place, who has taken 631 wickets in 582 matches between 2006 and 2024. Sunil Narine of West Indies is in third place, who has taken 590 wickets in 557 matches between 2011 and 2025. Imran Tahir of South Africa is in fourth place. Tahir has taken 554 wickets in 436 matches between 2006 and 2025. Tahir is still active in cricket at the age of 46. Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is in fifth place. From 2006 to 2025, he has taken 502 wickets in 547 matches.
Andre Russell of West Indies is in sixth place with 487 wickets in 564 matches between 2010 and 2025. Chris Jordan of England is in seventh place with 438 wickets in 418 matches from 2008 to 2025. There is not a single Indian bowler in this list. Yuzvendra Chahal’s name is in the list of most successful bowlers. From 2009 to 2025, he has taken 380 wickets in 326 matches. Chahal is at fourth position. When we look at the list of top ten Test and ODI bowlers in international cricket, the names of Indian bowlers are included in it. If he had been given enough opportunities in the last two-three years, Chahal would have been the only bowler in the list of top 10 bowlers in International T20 also.
In fact, BCCI does not allow any of its players to play in leagues played outside India. Therefore, Indian bowlers have the option of playing T20 and taking wickets only in domestic cricket, IPL and international cricket. On the other hand, players from other countries are part of every league played in the world except local and international cricket. This is the reason why he has more chances to take wickets. Indian bowlers do not have such an opportunity. As a result, Indian bowlers are not part of the top T20 team.
