Why Khamenei didn’t go into the bunker, the story of Iran’s Supreme Leader’s final days, and India’s diplomatic success also revealed!

New Delhi. Amidst the ongoing undeclared war in the Middle East, stories are emerging about the final days of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and his bold decisions. Khamenei prioritized the public good over his own safety and refused to retreat to a safe bunker during the American-Israeli attack.

His representative, Abdul Majid Hakim Elahi, told the India Today Conclave in New Delhi that during the US-Israeli airstrike on February 28, Khamenei’s security team requested him to move to a secret safe location. The 86-year-old Khamenei replied, “I am willing to leave my home only if you can provide safe shelter for Iran’s 90 million citizens.” He also refused to build a bunker under his house, saying he did not want to live a privileged life and wanted to be on par with the poor and marginalized.

Elahi said Khamenei often said he would prefer to die as a martyr rather than in a hospital bed or from illness. His wish was fulfilled during the holy month of Ramadan, which his followers consider the highest honor.

Meanwhile, India has achieved a diplomatic breakthrough amid this fierce conflict. Following successful talks between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Iran has allowed Indian-flagged tankers to safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The tankers “Pushpak” and “Parimal” have passed through safely, while another tanker carrying Saudi Arabian oil also arrived safely off the Mumbai coast.

However, tensions remain high in the Strait of Hormuz. This 55-kilometer-wide waterway carries 31% of the world’s oil shipments. The IRGC has made it clear that any ship passing through without their permission could be targeted. According to US intelligence, Iran possesses a network of anti-ship missiles based on Chinese technology, capable of blocking the entire sea route.

During the war, Iran also launched drone and missile attacks against Saudi Arabia’s oil fields and Dubai Airport. Furthermore, Israeli forces struck Hezbollah positions in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, killing seven people.

Suspense remains over the health of new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. Reports suggest he was injured in US attacks, but Iranian officials say he is safe.
