This incident happened at around 4.30 am on March 12 in Bichun village of Dudu area of Jaipur. During police interrogation, accused Surjeet Singh (40) told that he works in a Pattal-Done factory. Gets a salary of Rs 10 thousand every month. His wife used to taunt him every day about his low salary. She held the children and family responsible for the financial crisis. He killed his wife due to repeated insults.
Surjit Singh told the police – As soon as he woke up at around 4 am on March 12, an argument with his wife Saroj started. The daughter was sleeping deeply nearby. There was a sheet over his face. After the fight, he came down from the terrace and took out the sword kept in the room. He again went to the terrace and without making any noise, placed the sword on his wife’s neck. When Saroj screamed due to the blow of the sword, her daughter lying nearby woke up.
When the daughter saw the sword in her father’s hand and her mother soaked in blood, she also screamed in fear. Due to the fear of being exposed, Surjeet did not show compassion even towards his 8 year old daughter. While attacking he strangulated him. The daughter struggled for some time, but the accused did not leave her until she died.
The sword used in the crime was hidden behind pots on the terrace. Came out of the house and came on the road. On the way he started shouting and telling people that he had killed his wife and daughter. After this reached the police station.
Used to drink alcohol, had fights every day
After the murder of his wife and daughter, accused Surjeet had reached Mokhampura police station on foot. As soon as the incident was reported, the police immediately detained Surjit Singh. Senior police officers reached the police station and the spot.
Police said that Surjeet Singh is scared after the murder. He told that he had disputes with his wife every day. Partly he was troubled by illness and partly due to financial constraints. Every day his wife used to curse him in front of children, parents and brother-in-law. He was not able to earn much money even if he wanted to. Due to this, he started drinking alcohol and fights started happening daily in the house.
If the 16 year old son had been home, both their lives would have been saved.
Surjeet Singh (accused) told the police that his son (16) was not at home during the murder. He had gone to Didwana with uncle Manjeet Singh for a wedding. He admitted that if the son had been in the house, he would not have been able to kill the wife and daughter. Surjit’s son often sleeps on the terrace of the house with his mother and sister. In the past, when there was a fight between husband and wife, the son used to intervene. He never allowed his father to raise his hand on his mother.
Parents were in the house during the massacre
Accused Surjit’s father Ranjit Singh was a forest guard in the forest department. Retired in the year 2022. He lives near the house where the massacre took place. The family of Surjeet and his younger brother Manjeet Singh live in the same house. Surjit’s parents were sleeping in the rooms below the house that night.
