Why spend money on going to a goldsmith? Shine your old gold at home in just 5 minutes – ..
News India Live, Digital Desk: Gold is not just a choice for us Indians, but an emotion. Be it a wedding or any festival, unless there is a chain around the neck or earrings in the ears, makeup looks incomplete. We buy gold and wear it with great enthusiasm, but due to sweat, dust, soap and lotion, it starts losing its shine within a short time. They start looking black or gray.
In such a situation, we often think of taking them to a goldsmith and getting them polished. But there are two fears in it, first is the expense on the pocket and second is the doubt in the mind that what if the goldsmith has tampered with the gold?
If you are also in the same dilemma, then stop worrying. Today we are going to tell you a home and safe method by which you can make your old jewelery shine like new in your own kitchen.
The magic of lukewarm water and shampoo
Yes, you do not need any expensive chemicals.
- Prepare the mixture: Take lukewarm water in a bowl (be careful, not boiling hot water). Add a little mild shampoo or liquid dish wash to it.
- Soak the jewelry: Now put your dirty jewelery in this water and leave it for 15-20 minutes. This will remove the grime and oil.
- Use of soft brush: Now take an old toothbrush with very soft bristles. Remove the jewelry from the water and rub it very gently in every corner. Remember, do not apply force otherwise the gold may get scratched.
- wash and dry: Finally, wash the jewelery with clean water and wipe it dry with a cotton muslin cloth. You will see that the dirt is gone and the gold is shining.
The turmeric method is also unique
In ancient times, people used ‘turmeric’ to increase the shine of gold.
Make a thick paste by mixing a little turmeric powder with water. Apply it on the jewelery and leave it for some time. Then wash. Turmeric further enhances the natural shine (yellowness) of gold.
never make this mistake
- Hot Water: If precious stones, pearls or kundan are embedded in the jewellery, then do not use very hot water even by mistake. This may cause the glue to melt and the stones to fall off.
- Bleach or Vinegar: Never apply bleach or hard chemicals on gold, this can cause the gold to turn black.
- Tissue Paper: Do not use tissue paper to clean, it can scratch the gold. Always use soft cloth.
So next time there is no need to run to the goldsmith before going to a party. Just take 15 minutes and give your jewelry a new look yourself!
