Why two year old video of ruckus in AAP office is going viral on social media, this truth came out in fact check

New Delhi : A video of the ruckus of people in the Aam Aadmi Party office before the assembly elections to be held early next year in Delhi is going viral on social media. Saying that this video is recent, users are claiming that people are beating the AAP leader because of Muslim appeasement.

Investigation by news agency PTI Fact Check found that the claim about the video being recent is false, as this viral video is from November 2022. At that time, AAP MLA Gulab Singh Yadav was attacked by his own workers. In the video, some people are seen fighting among themselves. While sharing the viral video on social media platform X on November 16, a user wrote, “Good news. The people of Delhi have started beating the leaders of Aam Aadmi Party….”

What are users claiming about social media?

The user claimed that a common man contacted the AAP leader saying that we pay taxes with difficulty and the party is “ignoring Hindus because of Muslim appeasement”. The user warned that AAP leaders should not try to come to Hindu areas from now on, otherwise they will be “showered in the shoes”, which the public has already started doing.

The video is being shared with similar claims on various social media platforms. By reverse searching the 'key-frames' of the viral video, we found this video on the 'X' account of BJP leader Tajinder Bagga. While sharing it on November 21, 2022, Bagga had written, “MLA Gulab Singh Yadav was attacked by his supporters for selling tickets.”

According to a news published two years ago on Dainik Bhaskar's website, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gulab Singh Yadav was holding a meeting with his workers in Shyam Vihar area when this incident happened. Delhi BJP had at that time alleged that the MLA was beaten up by workers for selling tickets. However, AAP had rejected these allegations of BJP. In such a situation, it is clear from Fact Check's investigation that the viral video is not recent but from November 2022 and users are now sharing the video of a two-year old incident with false claims.
