Why was China left behind? Know the real reason
When the supply of oil and gas was affected due to the Iran crisis, countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Maldives turned towards India. In local language – “In times of trouble, only that which is useful is remembered”.
The wonder of India’s ‘Multi-Alignment’ policy
India’s foreign policy is not limited to any one country or group. India neither seems to be completely standing with America-Israel, nor against Iran. This balance gives confidence to neighboring countries that India can help in any situation. “Friendship to all, no enmity to anyone” – this is the game changer.
Why couldn’t China become the first choice?
Even though China invests billions, it has been accused of “debt trap”. It is not easy for him to supply oil or gas immediately at the time of need. Whereas India is providing immediate help – “Trust is built not by words but by deeds”.
Country-by-country: who got how much help
India sent thousands of tonnes of petrol and diesel to Sri Lanka. Nepal got assurance of increasing gas supply. Diesel is being supplied to Bangladesh through pipeline. Maldives has also sought help from India. “Every neighbor has expectations from India”.

India’s own challenge is no less
On one hand India is helping, on the other hand many of its own ships are stranded near the Strait of Hormuz. Still, India is busy maintaining the supply chain. “Fight for yourself, and help others” – this is real leadership.
