Wil Wheaton joins spinoff series, ‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe has offered a first glimpse of returning franchise face, Wil Wheaton, as the upcoming comedy spin-off expands the world of The Big Bang Theory.

A newly released HBO Max sizzle reel on Sunday briefly showed Wheaton making a quick cameo inside Stuart Bloom’s comic book store.

In the short clip, he appears to fire an energy blast at Stuart, Denise, Bert, and Barry Kripke, before disappearing in a rapid sequence that runs at around the 30-second mark.

Wheaton previously appeared in 17 episodes of The Big Bang Theory across seasons 3 through 12, where he played a heightened, often exaggerated version of himself.

The new series centres on comic book store owner Stuart Bloom, played by Kevin Sussman, who is forced into action after accidentally triggering a device created by Sheldon and Leonard.

The mishap results in a multiverse crisis that disrupts reality and sends Stuart on a mission to fix the damage.

He is joined by girlfriend Denise, geologist Bert, and physicist Barry Kripke, as they navigate alternate versions of familiar characters from the original series.

The show leans into its science-fiction premise while retaining the franchise’s comedic tone.

As the title suggests, things do not go smoothly for the unlikely team.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is scheduled to premiere in July on HBO Max.
