Wild Cards Season 4: Latest updates on release date, cast news and plot details
Wild Cards Seasons are among the most popular OTT series, though the renewal and filming of Wild Cards for its fourth season were done in March of 2026. There still has not been an announcement about the premiere date for Season 4. However, Season 4 is expected to air on both The CW and CBC in 2027 (January and February) based upon how Seasons 1 to 3 aired.
Wild Cards Season 4: Latest updates on release date
The series, which is a Canadian police procedural and co-produced by CBC and The CW, was renewed for Season 4 by CBC in May 2025, and The CW renewed it for Season 3 in November 2025 (the premiere of Season 3 in the US was January 26, 2026, and the last episode aired approximately April 13, 2026).
The filming of Seasons 3 and 4 occurred in Vancouver consecutively. The filming of Season 4 occurred between November 24, 2025, and March 18, 2026. Giacomo Gianniotti (the character Cole Ellis) made an Instagram post confirming the completion with an intense 7-month shooting schedule of two complete seasons (20 episodes total), and he also directed one episode in Season 4.
There’s no cancellation yet to indicate the show is finished, and it’s been deemed a successful series for the network due to it being an episodic procedural style program with character development, guest stars, and its “case-of-the-week” style.

Wild Cards Season 4: Plot details
Max Mitchell, an intelligent con woman, and Cole Ellis, an uptight police officer who has been demoted to the maritime unit, team up to solve crimes. Max will use her grifting abilities, while Ellis will use his cop skills; it is important for them both to redeem themselves (Max to stay out of jail, and Ellis to try to regain his badge). Each episode will revolve around a separate case, with ongoing character/personal development.
There is not much information available yet about the Season 4 plot, but it will likely follow a procedural format, similar to the past seasons, with standalone “case of the week” mysteries and evolving character relationships (although not dramatically changing them) while having guest stars. At the end of Season 3, a large arc for Varga involved the kidnapping of Max and confrontation with Max’s con artist family; therefore, this story could be explored in-depth with both of the dynamic between Max and Ellis in Season 4.
The early production summary was generic, discussing a con woman being arrested and then teaming up with a demoted officer, but this aligns more with the overall concept than being new and truly original.
