According to the information, the elephant had reached Bhandra via Ranchi. The villagers of Bhandra made a collective effort to drive it away from there, after which the elephant ghost went towards the village. Even in the ghost village, the villagers showed alertness and pushed him forward. After this the elephant left in the direction of Patratoli.

At present, villagers in Maranghada and surrounding villages are on alert mode. People are coming out of their homes in groups and taking special precautions at night. However, till now there has been no report of any loss of life or property due to the elephant. The villagers have demanded the forest department to increase patrolling in the area and return the elephant safely to the forest. The local administration has also appealed to the people not to go near the elephant and not to take any provocative action.
