Will AI eat your job? Amazon owner Jeff Bezos made such a claim that everyone was shocked.
There is currently a huge debate going on all over the world regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI). People everywhere are afraid that in the future, AI will eliminate the jobs of millions of people forever. But meanwhile, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and one of the richest people in the world, has made a claim which has changed the course of this entire debate. Bezos believes that AI will not replace humans, rather it may cause a huge shortage of employees in the market. He said that this technology will increase the working capacity of people manifold and will open closed doors of new opportunities.
While speaking at the famous ‘VivaTech’ technology conference held in Paris, Jeff Bezos said that today people all over the world are extremely worried that AI will make humans completely useless and unnecessary. However, Bezos does not agree with this fear and thinking at all. According to him, the real and main work of AI is to make humans more capable and powerful than ever before, so that they can solve the world’s biggest problems in a jiffy and start new businesses.
AI will eliminate time and resource restrictions
Jeff Bezos said a very profound thing from the stage. He told that at present in the world there are countless creative works, innovative ideas and projects on which people are not able to work only because they do not have time, sufficient resources or technical limitations. AI will eliminate all these obstacles and hindrances. This technology will work like a magical helper in helping people explore new possibilities and make their imaginations come true.
Know why the demand for employees will suddenly increase?
Jeff Bezos’s math is very simple. He believes that the needs, desires and ambitions of humans will never end. When AI will increase the productivity of people, people will be able to work on many new and big projects simultaneously, which will lead to rapid development of new industries. When new industries open, a lot of new employment opportunities will naturally be created and the demand for skilled employees in many sectors may increase more than ever.
He further said that AI will help the world in solving complex problems to which people are not able to pay enough attention at present due to lack of resources. In such a situation, the economic activities of the whole world will increase very rapidly and completely new types of jobs will emerge in the market, which do not even exist today.
Fear of common people is increasing amid layoffs in tech companies
Even though Jeff Bezos is talking very positive about AI, the threat and concerns of job loss are continuously increasing among the common employees on the ground. A recent survey data shows that almost half of the American citizens are afraid that AI may directly cost them or their family member their job in the coming days.
There is a solid reason behind this fear. Today, many small and big companies around the world are rapidly adopting AI based automated systems to reduce their costs and increase the speed of work. Many of the world’s leading tech companies, including Jeff Bezos’ company Amazon itself, have brutally laid off thousands of employees from their companies in the last few years, due to which this fear of the people has deepened.
Impact of AI will be like industrial revolution, hope remains for the future
Despite all these concerns, Jeff Bezos is completely optimistic about the future. He believes that AI will have the same impact on the entire world as the ‘Industrial Revolution’ had years ago. In the beginning, whenever a big technology comes, that phase of change may seem a bit challenging and scary, but if we look at the long-term benefits, this technology will create new industries, millions of new jobs and unprecedented opportunities for economic growth. According to Bezos, AI is not a substitute for humans or their enemy, but it will prove to be the most powerful tool ever created to maximize the potential of mankind.
