Will former Pakistan PM Imran Khan be released from jail, these things happened in the first meeting

Islamabad: The Pakistan government and the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party held their first meeting on Monday. In this, Shahbaz government and Petai have agreed to continue talks to resolve controversial issues including the release of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The long-awaited talks between the government and committees representing PTI were chaired by National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. Who had last week announced cooperation in the efforts of both sides to reduce the current political tension.

Those present from the government side included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Prime Minister's political aide Rana Sanaullah, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, former minister Naveed Qamar, MP Farooq Sattar and Privatization Minister Aleem Khan.

PTI was represented by former speaker Asad Qaiser, Sahibzada Hamid Raza and senator Raja Nasir Abbas. He announced that the next session will be held on January 2 and the PTI team will present a charter of its demands in the next meeting.

Hamid Razane said after the meeting that we discussed about the past and present and I hope that if we work together for the betterment of the country, it will strengthen political stability and strengthen democracy. It will help in dealing with the challenges faced by Pakistan.

Senator Irfan Siddiqui read out the communiqué regarding the talks in which both sides described the talks as positive and stressed the importance of continuing the talks. The release said that both the committees expressed goodwill and said that Parliament is the appropriate forum to resolve the issues. PTI's Qaiser told members that many members of his committee could not attend due to court proceedings. (with agency input)
