Will Indian team get a new batting coach?
Delhi: Team India is facing severe criticism after the 3-0 defeat in the home Test series against New Zealand and 3-1 defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The main reason for the defeat in both the series was the poor performance of the Indian batsmen. Indian batsmen were seen struggling at home against the spinners of New Zealand, while the batsmen could not survive on the bouncy pitches of Australia.
Gavaskar had raised questions on the batting coach
Former captain Sunil Gavaskar raised questions on the role of Team India's batting coach. He said that if a batsman like Virat Kohli is getting out in the same manner again and again, then what are the batting coaches doing?
According to the report of Cricbuzz, in the BCCI review meeting held on January 11 after the Australia tour, the decision to strengthen the coaching staff was taken. A new batting coach will be added to the coaching staff led by Gautam Gambhir.
Sitanshu Kotak can become batting coach
According to Times of India, Sitanshu Kotak's name is at the forefront for the new batting coach of Team India. Presently he is the head coach of India-A team. He also coached the India-A team on the Australia tour in November. There is a possibility that he may be given new responsibility before the Champions Trophy.
