The pacer subsequently missed a couple of matches due to mandatory recovery protocols. However, there is now a positive update from the Delhi Capitals camp ahead of the Chennai Super Kings clash.
Delhi Capitals bowling coach Munaf Patel confirmed in the pre-match press conference that Ngidi is fit and available for selection.
“Everyone is fit. Lungi is fit. He didn’t play two games because of the criterion of six days’ rest,” he said.
So, Lungi Ngidi is most likely to return in DC vs CSK clash.
David Miller faces selection uncertainty due to team’s combination
David Miller’s absence in the previous clash came as a surprise. There was no clear explanation provided at the toss, although it is understood that the decision was influenced by team combination and recent form.
His performances this season have not been very convincing, which may have pushed the management to try a different setup. The move worked well for Delhi as they chased down a massive 226-run target against Rajasthan Royals. That win gave the side both confidence and clarity in terms of their playing combination.
The current setup appears more settled. Tristan Stubbs has been doing a solid job in the middle order, while Pathum Nissanka impressed with a strong contribution in the last game. In the bowling unit, the team is expected to continue with Mitchell Starc and Kyle Jamieson as their key overseas options.
With this balance in place, Miller’s spot in the XI does not look secure at the moment, so he is unlikely to play against Chennai Super Kings unless there is a change in strategy.
