Will Mohammed Shami, Marco Jansen play LSG vs PBKS clash? Here’s the latest update

Punjab Kings will be pushing hard for two crucial points to keep their slim IPL 2026 playoff hopes alive when they take on Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium.

Meanwhile, all eyes will be on experienced pacers Mohammed Shami and Marco Jansen, both of whom missed their respective team’s previous games as LSG and PBKS suffered defeats in their last outings.

LSG likely to rethink bowling combination as Mohammed Shami eyes return

LSG have already been eliminated from this year’s tournament after a disappointing campaign. In their previous clash, experienced pacer Mohammed Shami missed out in a surprise move by the franchise.

Skipper Rishabh Pant revealed at the toss that Shami was replaced by Mohsin Khan due to team combination requirements.

Shami had started the season strongly with his ability to swing the new ball early on and trouble batters with his disciplined lines and lengths. However, as the tournament progressed, the veteran pacer began conceding too many runs, and his rising economy rate became a major concern for the side.

With LSG already out of playoff contention, the franchise has also experimented with different combinations and bench strength in preparation for the upcoming season.

LSG’s previous outing against Rajasthan Royals exposed their bowling struggles once again in what turned out to be a poor performance with the ball.

In 12 matches this season, Shami has managed only 10 wickets at an economy rate of 8.80. However, despite the disappointing numbers, LSG could still bring back the experienced pacer for their final game of the season.

As things stand, Mohammed Shami is likely to feature in the LSG vs PBKS clash.

Marco Jansen’s poor form becomes a major headache for PBKS

The story of Marco Jansen has been quite similar to Mohammed Shami’s. The South African all-rounder missed PBKS’ previous clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Dharamsala, a game which Punjab eventually lost after leaking too many runs.

Marco Jansen’s performances have been a major concern during PBKS’ dramatic collapse in the second half of the season. The franchise, which has now suffered six consecutive defeats, looks completely short of confidence and ideas.

Jansen’s poor form has played a significant role in PBKS losing momentum. In 12 matches, the left-arm pacer has picked up only seven wickets while maintaining a disappointing economy rate of 10.38.

With Punjab needing a must-win result to stay alive in the playoff race, the management is expected to go with combinations that offer immediate impact and consistency.

Because of that, PBKS are unlikely to bring back an out-of-form Marco Jansen for such a high-pressure encounter.

As things stand currently, Marco Jansen is unlikely to feature in the LSG vs PBKS clash.
